U.S. Bank Stadium Custom Magazine

I was contracted to create the Minnesota Meetings + Events U.S. Bank Stadium by clients SMG and MSFA, organizations tasked with creating and running the stadium. This issue was published in the fall of 2016, coinciding with the stadium's opening. It won the Gold Award in the 2017 Minnesota Magazine & Publishing Association (MMPA) Excellence Awards in the category of Single-Topic Issue for Business Trade Organizations. Here's a look at the issue as a whole.

The Super Bowl is Coming

Once Minnesota won the bid for Super Bowl LII, the lengthy and complicated planning process began, led by the Minnesota Super Bowl Host Committee. This editor's letter-and-story combo, featured in the Winter 2017 issue of Minnesota Meetings + Events, covered what went into preparing for Super Bowl LII, how local businesses could get involved and the potential economic impact the Super Bowl could yield for Minnesota tourism.

Five Faces of U.S. Bank Stadium

I was granted exclusive access to profile five key leaders in the U.S. Bank Stadium project as it was still in the works. I chose a Q&A-style format to display as much as their insight as possible. The most interesting thing about this feature: Each of these five individuals and the companies they represent had different angles of interest and investments in this stadium, but all five had to work together to achieve a successful product. This story was the largest feature in the custom U.S. Bank Stadium magazine I was contracted to do for SMG and MSFA as a special Minnesota Meetings + Events edition. It was published in 2016 in conjunction with the stadium's opening.

Still a Star: Alan Page Gives Back

Alan Page, an NFL Hall-of-Famer and retired Minnesota Supreme Court Justice, now spends his time building the Alan Page Foundation, which provides minorities grants and guidance for post-secondary education. Fittingly, the Page Foundation threw the first community fundraiser at U.S. Bank Stadium. This profile on Alan Page was featured in the custom U.S. Bank Stadium magazine I was contracted to produce for SMG and MSFA as a special Minnesota Meetings + Events edition. It was published in 2016 in conjunction with the stadium's opening.

Winning the Super Bowl

Winning the bid for Super Bowl LII was a game-changer for the state of Minnesota. This story details the difficult and dramatic process, featuring interviews with Marilyn Carlson Nelson, the former Carlson CEO who led the Super Bowl Committee presentation to NFL owners, as well as Melvin Tennant, CAE, president and CEO of Meet Minneapolis. This story was featured in the custom U.S. Bank Stadium magazine I was contracted to do for clients MSFA and SMG, organizations tasked with planning, creating and running the stadium.

Built For Bold

The U.S. Bank Stadium cover was a true copywriting test, considering it was a custom issue I was contracted to do for big-time clients: SMG and MSFA, organizations tasked with creating and running the stadium. So I needed to sell them on a number of things, including a clever tie to the stadium's brand on the cover. The U.S. Bank Stadium issue was published in the fall of 2016, coinciding with the stadium's opening. It won the Gold Award in the 2017 Minnesota Magazine & Publishing Association (MMPA) Excellence Awards in the category of Single-Topic Issue for Business Trade Organizations.
